    Faith and Learning Statement:

As a teacher and previous administrator in a Christian school I feel that there is much required from a Christian teacher. Teaching simply academic education can be a process progressing from an initial concept to more of an advanced methodology. Today, it is a challenge to be a teacher who cares about the individual student, especially when some of the students don't care about themselves. When it comes to being a Christian school teacher you not only have to teach the process of academics but then you are also teaching morals and values and a belief system that is in accordance with the Holy scriptures.

Jesus' examples in scripture were not merely based on teaching, although some were, but rather they were based on action. The processes of teaching those actions often, if not always, were preceded by Jesus' actions. Hence, your actions speak louder than your words. There were many times recorded in the scriptures where Jesus' prayed. One example is in Matt 9. " After this manner therefore pray ye. Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so on earth. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one." Jesus first prayed then, when asked, taught his disciples how to pray.

As a Christian teacher I must not only be able to teach the life of Christ but I must also model Christ in my life. If I teach the students in health that their bodies are the temples of the Holy Spirit, then I too must treat my body as the temple of the Holy Spirit. As an former administrator if I had to discipline a student for their use of language when they were under duress, then I too must display control when I am coaching and am also under duress. Will we as teachers or administrators make mistakes? Sure we will as will the students. The important thing is how we deal with the mistake and what we learn from it rather than the fact that we messed up. Being a teacher of Christianity is a wonderful job. By sharpening the students we also are getting sharpened. By teaching the students we also are taught. By helping the students learn how to learn we also are learning. There is no greater job in this land than to be an ambassador for our Lord Jesus Christ!
