Spiritual

What does Christian mean in your name?

Christian simply means "a follower of Christ". The inclusion of 'Christian' in our name signifies our belief that those who trust in Christ's death and resurrection are united in faith and recognize Christ as our Savior.

 

Are you affiliated with a church?

Students enrolled in Dayspring represent about 60 Christian churches. The core truths of the Bible, which unite Christians, are taught. Dayspring is not part of any church, but cultivates constructive relationships with churches.

Does my student need to be a Christian?

It is not a requirement that the student profess faith in Jesus Christ but at least one of the student's parents or guardians needs to be a Christian who is regularly attending church. The student needs to be respectful of other students' Christian beliefs.

Do you teach Scripture as the inerrant Word of God?

Yes.

Academics

How do you integrate Christian teachings into your academics?

We strive to teach the student a full array of knowledge, a love of learning, as well as the skill and understanding to grasp and interpret that knowledge within a biblical framework. There are also Bible classes in all grades and weekly chapel services. Christian education cultivates an informed faith, preparing students to live and work in the world as followers of Christ.

Is Dayspring a real school? Do you teach math, science, reading and other academics?

Dayspring teaches all the academic subjects; math, science, language, literature, reading, history, social studies, as well as Bible. Advanced Placement (AP) courses are also offered.

Is the school accredited?

Yes, Dayspring has dual accreditation; most schools only have single accreditation. Dayspring is accredited by CSI (Christian Schools International) and NCA (North Central Association). The University of Northern Colorado and Aims Community College are accredited by NCA.

What curricula do you use?

Dayspring uses a variety of Christian and secular materials. A scope-and-sequence and course maps have been developed and refined for each subject. Applicants are welcome to go to the Dayspring office and review its curricula.

Do you teach evolution?

Dayspring compares the theory of evolution to the truths of God's creation.

Are teachers degreed and certified?

Dayspring policy is to employ degreed and certified faculty.

What grades does Dayspring have?

Pre-kindergarten through grade 12.

How many students in each class?

Pre-kindergarten classes do not exceed a ratio of 1 to 10. AM and PM kindergarten classes do not exceed an enrollment of 16 per class. Elementary classes do not exceed 24 students unless an aide is added. Middle school and high school classes average a lower ratio.

Is there a waiting list?

The enrollment in some classes is capped for the year. Others have room for more students. Contact the office to determine whether there is space in the class(es) in which you wish to enroll your student(s).

Do you have daycare or after-school care?

Yes, our Before and After School Care program is from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and then again from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. We also offer care on Fridays and many holidays. Please call Tammy at 330-1151, extension 227 for additional information.

Do you have all-day pre-kindergarten?

Dayspring offers either all-day, morning or afternoon Pre-K.

Do you have all-day kindergarten?

Dayspring offers either all-day, morning, or afternoon kindergarten.

What age does my child have to be to start?

Pre-K--age 4 by September 1. Kindergarten--age 5 by September 1.

Do the students wear uniforms?

Dayspring does not require uniforms; however a dress code is spelled out in the student handbook.

What days and hours is school in session?

Dayspring has a four-day week Monday through Thursday. We meet or exceed the state requirement for annual classroom hours.

  • Pre-K 8:00-11:00 AM or 12:00-3:00 PM
  • Kindergarten 8:00-11:30 AM, Noon to 3:30 for PM, or 8:00 AM-3:30 PM for all day.
  • Elementary (first through fifth grade) 8:00 AM-3:30 PM
  • Middle school (6th-8th grade) 7:30AM-3:30 PM
  • High school (9th-12th grade 7:30 AM-3:30 PM
  • Arrangements are made for elementary students who must arrive early.

Do you have recess?

Elementary and kindergarten students have recess in the morning, after lunch, and in the afternoon. The playground is also available before school within published guidelines.

Sports, Music, Foreign Language

What sports do you offer?

Middle school:

  • Boys: football, baseball, track, basketball.
  • Girls: track, basketball, volleyball.

High School:

  • Boys: football, baseball, track, basketball.
  • Girls: track, basketball, volleyball, cheerleading.
Elementary School:
  • Sometimes a parent will put together an elementary team (basketball, volleyball) that competes in the city recreation league.
  • Homeschool students participate on some of our teams.
  • All students participate in physical education classes and/or athletics.

Do you have music/choir/instrumental music?

  • Music and choir are offered in all grades.
  • Band is offered from fifth grade.
  • High school has Kerygma honors choir.

Do you teach a foreign language?

Spanish is taught in high school.

Parental involvement

How can parents be involved in the school?

  • Parent-Teacher Ministry
  • Moms in Touch (weekly prayer for students and school)
  • Our annual Project Serve community service day.
  • Volunteer to help in classroom, library, office, sports, concessions, special events, field trip chaperone/driver, be a barista for the senior coffee cart.
  • Adults working alone with children need to have a background check.
  • Attend parent-teacher conferences and all-school parent meetings such as the State-of-the-School meeting.
  • Check student grades and assignments online.
  • Teachers are accessible and welcome parental involvement.

2010-2011 School Year:

  • Pre-K -3 year olds                         2 half days  $ 1,300

  • Kindergarten                                 4 half days  $ 2,700

  • Grades 9-12                                                   $ 5,300
Tuition can be paid in full for a discount, or monthly on a 10 or 11 month basis.

Do you offer financial aid?

Yes, based on need. Forms are available in the office. Discounts are available for families with more than two children attending, for pastors' children, and for employees' children. There are a limited number of Eagles Wings scholarships for new students, based on need.

A family who refers another family to Dayspring is eligible to apply for a referral tuition credit equal to 10% of the new family's tuition. Forms are available in the office.

Enrolling

Can you help a student who has a learning disability?

Dayspring employs a Masters-degreed resource teacher to serve students who need extra help. He equips teachers to serve these students as well. Your student's needs will be assessed. Teachers are sensitive to accommodating a variety learning styles.

How do I enroll my student?

We encourage you to call Dayspring Ambassador Kay Weber at 970-584-2608 to schedule an informational meeting and a tour of the facilities. The enrollment process includes completing a student enrollment application and authorizing Dayspring to obtain grade transcripts and a pastor's recommendation.  We also require a personal interview of students and parents with the admissions staff.

There is a non-refundable application fee of $ 250.
